We are looking for a committed and patient-focused adult & pediatric therapists to join our team. You will offer effective and client-centered services that will enable clients and their families lead happier, healthy and functionally independent life's. The successful candidate will have a holistic perspective and will be able to adapt the environment, task or modality to fit the person's needs to achieve their goals. We are happy to train in the lifespan approach for those who want to treat all ages across lifespan.
Experience treating different client's groups is beneficial to the position and the desire to learn new techniques and go the extra mile essential for those new to the position or changing clinical specialties.
We are looking for therapists that are passionate about working with children, teens and adults. Your caseload would reflect what you are most passionate about and you would have the flexibility to build your own caseload.
Speech therapists and physical therapists would be able to develop their own clinical roles based on their interests and passions, therefore job descriptions would be negotiable.
Responsibilities OT
- Address client’s aspects of performance to support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being, and life quality
- Select and adapt the appropriate per case treatment model, method, and approach to direct the process of interventions.
- Apply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) related to life roles.
- Teach clients new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components and treat aspects of difficulties in all domains (both physically and cognitively).
- Assess client’s home and other environments and advice on alterations consistent with their needs and capabilities.
- Recommend adaptive equipment and techniques and train in its use. Guide, coach and educate family members and caregivers.
- Observe, note, and report on the progress of long- and short-term treatment goals Collect data and document via EMR.
- Be able to manage work-load/ case-load duties with good executive functioning skills.
- Be a participant in managing other staff members, students and interns.
- Be responsible for remaining on consistent learning curve to meet needs of caseload and required licenses/ registration.
Skills:
-Proven working experience as an occupational therapist.
-Excellent knowledge of principles and practices of occupational therapy.
-Hands-on experience with using computers and using EMR's.
-Familiarity with pediatric, adult assessments and common treatment modalities.
-Ability to manage patients with a variety of physical, developmental, mental health and social impairments.
-Current knowledge of treatment practices per discipline and the drive to continually learn and grow in the profession.
-Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

"Throughout my time shadowing Jacqueline at Lifespan Occupational Therapy, I have learned many strategies to effectively use for my "tool box" when I'm an occupational therapist. I'm currently applying to graduate school and wanted to observe an outpatient clinic that provided care to all ages and disabilities. After doing some research on her website, I decided this was the location I wanted to pursue shadowing and a good addition to my hours. Jacqueline has a diverse background, receiving her education in England and then opening up her own business after working as an employee of other OT clinics and medical/ educational settings throughout her career. Whenever I would ask questions throughout the therapy session, she would explain the reasoning behind her procedures. No matter how busy she was, she always seemed to be welcoming to not only the clients she had but also the observer. For example, she would include you in on the games being played and would encourage interaction with the client. An admirable protocol that Jacqueline would do that I have not seen other therapists I've shadowed is her interaction with the parents of the child. The interaction that she would provide was genuine, empathetic, knowledgeable, and educational which are all characteristics about her that I noticed build her relationships with the parents. I would recommend any student looking to further their education and/or knowledge about OT to shadow Jacqueline as she provides a unique and effective client-centered approach to her therapy sessions"
